Time to Dive into them Swimsuits

Spring time is here, and that means it is time to get your body into a sexy swimwear. Pick out your bikini or the sexy one piece and get ready for the hot and humid summer weather. The beaches are waiting and the boardwalk shops are open. The Bahamas is looking great and the Jamaica Island is waiting for me.

Thanks to Annette Kellerman, I’m glad I can wear a skin tight sexy one piece swimsuit.

In 1907, Annette was in Boston to swim in her sexy skin tight swimsuit, which was very comfortable and made it very easy to swim. Considering the swimwear worn in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, I wouldn’t even think about swimming in that. The bagging long legged swimwear was a must have, never to reveal the body of a woman in public. So Annette wearing her swimwear in Boston to practice for the Olympics, it put her under arrest for the indecent exposure. Women were not allowed to show skin. Plus it was un-ladylike to swim as a professional sport, women should only be a house wife not an athlete. But then society changed; from the heavy swimwear to a more safe and comfortable swimsuit. Then again they had to make a change, women like to swim even though there were reports of some women that drowned in their heavy wet swimsuit.

Now let me take you back further into time. Covering the body was a very necessary thing for women, but it was a different story before the eighteen hundreds. In 200 B.C to 500 A.D, women worn bikini like clothing that consist of a bandeau like top and bottoms to cover their private areas. Yet, some didn’t wear anything at all. These bathing suits were worn at a bathing area, they were not just for swimming uses. As for now, bikinis are everywhere and very revealing, comfortable and sexy for the body of a fit woman to relax on the beach or for the athletes.

So ladies, let’s thank Annette Kellerman for standing firm and strong for wearing her swimwear that year. We all might have still been in those heavy, uncomfortable swimsuits.
