From its rich history and vibrant art scene to trendy boutiques and exciting nightlife, Atlanta offers a memorable experience for couples seeking connection and fun.
Known as the “New Black Hollywood,” Atlanta is full of star power, southern charm, and creative energy.
If you’ve ever watched The Real Housewives of Atlanta or followed your favorite celebrities filming in town, you already know this city has a buzz all its own.
But beyond the glamour, Atlanta is a welcoming and diverse city full of beautiful parks, inspiring museums, and romantic things to do.
Since moving from Philadelphia to Atlanta, my friends and family constantly ask me what it’s like living here and what kind of romantic activities couples can enjoy over a weekend trip.
So, I created this guide filled with six date-worthy ideas, plus tips on where to stay, what to eat, and how to make the most of your couple’s escape.

Stay at the ALOFT Hotel in Downtown Atlanta
This stylish and modern hotel offers a perfect location and a mix of comfort and fun. From here, you’re just steps away from Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, and the High Museum of Art.
- Grab a quick bite or coffee at the 24-hour Re: Fuel café.
- Enjoy drinks and music in the evening at the WXYZ Bar.
- Relax with a swim in the outdoor pool or burn off stress in the 24-hour fitness center.
It’s an ideal spot for a weekend getaway or even a business trip with a romantic twist. If you’re looking to add a little spice to your stay, check out my blog on Valentine’s Day romantic ideas for couples looking to elevate the hotel experience.
Romantic Activities Around Atlanta
See the City from Above at SkyView Atlanta
One of the most unforgettable romantic activities in Atlanta is riding the SkyView Ferris Wheel near Centennial Park. Soar above the city in one of the 42 climate-controlled gondolas and take in stunning views of downtown and beyond.
- Visit in the morning or mid-afternoon for shorter lines and clearer views.
- Upgrade to the VIP gondola with Ferrari-style seats, a glass floor, and extended ride time for an extra special moment.
It’s peaceful, romantic, and just the right amount of thrill to get your heart racing, in a good way.
Take a Stroll Through Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is one of Atlanta’s gems. With walking trails, skyline views, and frequent festivals, it’s a great place to relax and reconnect with your partner. On weekends, enjoy live music, food vendors, and people-watching in the heart of the city.
Shop, Dine, and Explore at Atlantic Station
If shopping is your love language, you’ll adore Atlantic Station. With over 50 stores, cozy cafés, and beautiful outdoor spaces, it’s a charming place to explore hand in hand.
- Look for outdoor events like Screen on the Green during the summer.
- Check the Atlantic Station calendar before your visit to catch live entertainment or pop-up markets.
Plan a Romantic Dinner for Two
After your ride on SkyView, grab dinner at Tin Lizzy’s Cantina. Their tacos are packed with flavor and creativity, from mahi-mahi to Korean BBQ and even Philly cheesesteak options.

- The margaritas are strong contenders, too.
- It’s casual, fun, and walkable from SkyView, making it a great dinner spot after sightseeing.
Or, for a sit-down meal with variety, head to HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern. With a menu that caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians, you’ll find something for every taste—plus their award-winning burgers and bourbon list are crowd-pleasers.
End the Night at Ponce City Market
For a true Atlanta experience, spend an evening at Ponce City Market. This repurposed Sears building now houses some of the city’s trendiest shops, restaurants, and rooftop fun.
Stroll through the market for delicious food, artisan finds, and cocktails.
After 7 PM, head to The Roof, a 21+ space with games, drinks, and panoramic skyline views.
It’s ideal for date nights, birthdays, or a spontaneous evening of fun.
Tickets are easy to book online, so plan ahead for a seamless night out.
