Are you planning the ultimate guide to family fun in Myrtle Beach? If so, you need ideas on where to stay, where to eat, and things to do with the family. I have some recommendations and a few tips for you.

It was my daughter and I’s first time being in Myrtle Beach, and my husband visited a few times with family when he was younger. There is so much to do on the streets and the beach.

I will share where we stayed and other recommendations—ideas for local restaurants or eating in, fun family activities, and adult nightlife.

Myrtle Beach Family Oceanfront Condos

Myrtle Beach condos are beautiful, especially the one we stayed in, which is within walking distance of the beach. You can also book other hotels and vacation rentals that suit your and your family’s needs.

Since I love staying at any Marriott properties, I booked an oceanfront condo at the Palmetto Vacation Rentals. There are 17 floors full of condos, elevators to get your room, and a gate to get into the condos with a key card after hours.

This condo is so spacious; it has a kitchen and laundry room in your condo, a dining area, a living room with a flat-screen TV, two bedrooms with private full bathrooms, and a balcony with beautiful views. It’s within walking distance of the Family Kingdom Amusement Park and the beach, where you can have some fun in the sun.

Before getting to the condos, you must visit the rental office to pick up your key and codes. The office was about ten minutes from the condos. If arriving after hours, the property staff will send you an email and text to confirm arrival and instructions.

There are also other hotels and vacation homes around Myrtle Beach with plenty of oceanfront views and more. View rates on two-bedroom condos for rates under $300 a night.

Best Places to Stay in Myrtle Beach for Families (Condos + Hotels)

When planning a family trip to Myrtle Beach, where you stay can make a huge difference in both your experience and your budget.

From my experience, if you’re traveling with kids, you have two great options:

Family-friendly condos with kitchens (best for saving money)

Budget-friendly hotels with amenities included

If you’re staying more than 2–3 nights, I always recommend booking a condo with a kitchen.

  • Save money on breakfast and late-night food runs

Don’t Let Hidden Hotel Fees Ruin Your Vacation

Before you book your hotel in Myrtle Beach, make sure you understand all the extra costs that may not show upfront.

I’ve seen families think they’re getting a great deal… only to be surprised by:

  • Resort fees
  • Parking charges
  • Deposits
  • Extra guest fees

That’s exactly why I wrote this guide to help you avoid those mistakes:

Family Dining in Myrtle Beach.

If you stay in a condo with a kitchen that provides appliances, silverware, plates, and cups, you can save money and time while cooking. Local grocery stores like Food Lion, Walmart, and local food markets are also available.

Since we brought some things from home in Marietta, Georgia, we plan to cook breakfast and dinner at the condo. I went online to find a local food market nearby, and I found the perfect place.

Bowl of Fresh Wild Snow Crab from Seafood Market

Mr. Fish Seafood Market and Grill is at 6307 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC, about 15 minutes from the Palmetto condos. They can cook your order or freeze it to cook later, which we did.

If you and your family love seafood, take them to Captain Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood Buffet. Just try not to overeat. That’s not the only restaurant in town. There’s pizza, Italian, Sushi, and plenty of quick restaurants to satisfy everyone.

Family-Fun Things to Do in Myrtle Beach.

The Beach

One of the main reasons to go to the beach is to be on the sand with your toes in the ocean. Be sure to pack the beach accessories like towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, beach hats, beach chairs, and umbrellas. Bring a speaker to play music, but keep the sound at a reasonable volume for you and your family to hear, not super loud.

Do you plan to hit the beach early and stay before the sun goes down? Then don’t forget the cooler with water and juice packs. Plus, bring a bag with some light snacks if you get hungry.

You can use a rolling cart to bring the items to the beach without carrying too much on your back and arms. However, once you hit the sand, you may want two people to lift the cart while walking. The sand will stop you and those wheels.

Fun Activities

There are plenty of thrilling activities, rides, games, golf, and more for the whole family. The Family Kingdom Amusement Park is a five-minute walk from the condos, and a short drive is a miniature golf course like Mt. Atlantic’s Minotaur Golf and Captain Hooks Adventure Golf.

If you and your family have more time to do more activities, you must visit the 900-1200 blocks of North Ocean Blvd. Just view what is going on in this area.

Is someone fearless? Then, ride on the Sky Wheel Myrtle Beach and try the Free Fall Trill Park, where you will be tossed in the air.

However, if you prefer to stay on the ground, visit any of Ridley’s Believe It Or Not activities, such as Crazy Golf, Haunted Adventure, or Mirror Maze.

If you are getting hungry, no worries; there are so many places to get a bite on this Boulevard. You can eat at the Landshark Bar & Grill, get a slice or a pie of pizza at NY Pizza Kitchen, or get some ice cream at Mr.Rolls.

You can book some activities early in advance without waiting in lines. Plan to be busy for a few fun-filled hours. The kids will enjoy their time, and you will, too.
